What Should I Do if My Document Is Misused

Data Access & DeletionRevision: 2026-06-26Language: EN

If you suspect your document has been used without your consent, act quickly — here is how to report it and protect yourself.

If you believe your identity document has been used fraudulently — for example, if you received a notification about a verification you did not initiate, or if you discover accounts opened in your name without your knowledge — it is important to act quickly.

01

Immediate steps to take

Contact the business involved immediately and report that you did not authorise the verification or account.
Report the suspected identity fraud to your national police or fraud reporting authority.
Notify your document-issuing authority (e.g. passport office or national ID agency) so they can flag the document.
Check your credit report for any accounts or credit applications you did not make.
02

Reporting to ONEKYC

If you believe ONEKYC's platform was used as part of the misuse, email legal@onekyc.io immediately with the subject line 'Identity Fraud Report'. Include your full name, the business involved if known, and any details about the fraudulent verification you are aware of.

ONEKYC takes fraud reports extremely seriously. Our compliance team will investigate the report and, where appropriate, flag the relevant verification for review and work with the affected business to contain any harm. We may also be required to report certain fraud incidents to regulatory authorities.

To prevent future misuse, consider using ONEKYC ID's consent controls to ensure no business can access your verified identity data without an explicit approval you initiate. You can also request deletion of your ONEKYC ID data at any time by contacting legal@onekyc.io.
