Liveness

Selfie & LivenessRevision: 2026-06-26Language: EN

The liveness check uses passive detection to confirm you are a real person — no special actions required, just follow the prompts.

The liveness check is a step in the identity verification flow that confirms you are a real, live person rather than a photograph or a digital reproduction. ONEKYC uses passive liveness detection, which means you do not need to blink, turn your head, or perform any exaggerated actions — you simply look at the camera as instructed.

01

How passive liveness detection works

Passive liveness analysis uses advanced computer vision to detect natural, involuntary micro-movements and depth cues in the video feed. These signals are invisible to the naked eye but allow the system to distinguish a real person from a static image or video replay with high confidence.

Tips for a successful liveness check

Ensure your face is well-lit — natural light or indoor overhead lighting works best.
Remove sunglasses or hats that obscure your face.
Position your face within the on-screen guide and hold steady.
Avoid strong backlighting (e.g. sitting directly in front of a window).
Make sure the camera lens is clean and unobstructed.

The liveness check normally takes only a few seconds. If it fails, the most common causes are poor lighting, the face being partially outside the frame, or a very low-quality camera. Try moving to a brighter location and retrying. If you continue to have trouble, contact the business that requested your verification.
