Personal Information Step

Other Verification StepsRevision: 2026-06-26Language: EN

The personal information step collects your basic details — name, date of birth, and nationality — to begin your verification.

The personal information step is usually one of the first steps in a verification flow. It asks you to enter basic details about yourself so that the system can begin matching the information you provide against the data on your identity documents.

01

What information is collected

First name and last name (as they appear on your identity document).
Date of birth.
Nationality or country of citizenship.
Residential address (in some flows).
02

Tips for completing this step

Enter your name exactly as it appears on the identity document you will submit — do not use nicknames or abbreviations.
Double-check your date of birth before proceeding.
If your name contains special characters or diacritics, enter them as they appear on your document.
If you have both a passport name and a commonly used name, use the passport name.

The information you enter here is compared against the data extracted from your document during the OCR step. Discrepancies between what you enter and what your document says are a common cause of verification failures, so accuracy at this stage is important.

All personal information you provide is handled in accordance with ONEKYC's data protection obligations. The business that requested your verification determines how long this data is retained. For questions about data retention, contact the business or email legal@onekyc.io.
